The 38M Toldi I is a Hungarian light tank.
Description[]
The Toldi I was a Hungarian licenced built version of the Swedish Landsverk L-60 light tank, built by MAVAG for the Hungarian army. The Hungarian tank saw several modifications from the original Swedish counterpart, such as a change in its armament and suspension, and later production vehicles named Toldi II were mostly made with locally produced Hungarian parts in order to solve supply chain and reliability issues. Both models first saw action against Yugoslavia in 1941 with relative success and no losses, but later suffered badly against Soviet tanks in Operation Barbarossa, and as a result of the latter the tanks were mostly relegated to reconnaissance role. Both Toldi I and II would see an upgunned variant in the form of 42M Toldi IIa.
In BattleGroup42, the Toldi I can fire its Solothurn S-18/1000 anti-tank cannon, which is adequate against soft-skinned or lightly armoured vehicles, up to four rounds in automatic fire before reloading, as well as a 8mm Gebauer machine gun against enemy infantry. The vehicle is no match for more heavily armoured tanks in most situations, and hence it should be used in reconnaissance or ambushes.
It can be found on maps such as 4108-Uman Pocket and 4301-Voronezh.
