The Autocarro Protetto AS37 is an Italian armoured personnel carrier.
Description[]
Italy entered World War II without any armoured personnel carriers. As a result, several designs were proposed to address this issue, and among them was the Autocarro Protetto AS37, also known as Autoprotetto S37. It was based on the TL37 gun tractor, which boasted good mobility and range.
There are two versions of the AS37 in BattleGroup42: one with Breda 30 machine gun, and one with Solothurn S-18/1000 anti-tank rifle. It can carry a driver, a gunner, and two passengers in the compartment. The driver can deploy a tripod mounted Breda-SAFAT machine gun on the ground for troops to use immediately, and raise or lower the vision slit by pressing the up or down directional key respectively.
Like all troop transport in the mod, the AS37 can heal passengers and provide them with ammunition supply, as well as repair friendly vehicles in the vicinity.
It can be found in scenarios set in mid-1942 and thereafter. German AS37s can also be found in 4405-Raid on Drvar.
