The Ko-hyoteki-class submarine is a Japanese midget submarine.

Description

The Ko-hyoteki-class submarine has a total of two torpedo tubes at the stern. It is very small in size, making it relatively hard to detect by its enemies, however the submarine has no deck guns for self-defense.

In BattleGroup42, the midget submarine represents the Type C variant which is slightly larger in displacement and higher range when submerged (i.e. 220km) compared to its predecessors.

One of the submarines appear in Conquest mode of 4309-Battle for Lae. It can also be found in 4205-Operation Ironclad, as Japanese midget submarines took part in attacks on Madagascar.

Trivia

  • Its in-game name is also known as HA-19, which is the midget submarine that took part in the Pearl Harbour attack, and was captured after grounded.
  • The previous midget submarine model is created by Nikos Andronikos for The Lost Battalion mod, and is donated to BattleGroup42 when the mod ceased development.
  • The model was later replaced by a much more detailed one created by Oleg Pomoshnikov and obtained for free from CGTrader.
