T-34 is a Soviet tank.

Description

The T-34 was the mainstay of the Soviet armoured forces, and its importance was so great that it became the most produced tank in the war, and its design so influential that it had an impact on future tank designs for both sides of the war.

The T-34/76 is armed with the 76.2mm F-34 gun with a DT machine gun on the coaxial mount, and another at the front of the hull. Model 1941 is the second production variant, and is a common sight until late 1942 and especially 1943, where they are replaced by Model 1943 with a new turret. The 76.2mm is an adequate gun against similar tanks of the time, but not effective against heavy tanks. Finally T-34/85 features a new turret to house the more powerful 85mm D-5T gun, and is sent to the front line in 1944 to counter the increasingly potent German armour.

Trivia

  • During the mod's early development, it uses the original Battlefield 1942's T-34 as a base model. The model was later replaced with high quality renders in version 1.6.
  • There is also a promotional image of T-34 Model 1940, but its main armament was F-34 tank gun instead of L-11 so it was not adopted for obvious reason. Instead, the tank only appeared on the Battlefield 2 counterpart - BattleGroup Frontlines.
  • There are several vehicles derived from the T-34. OT-34/85 is a flame tank variant of the T-34/85. SU-122 is a self-propelled artillery using T-34's chassis. SU-85 and SU-100 are tank destroyers that are also based on the tank's chassis.
