T-40 is a Soviet light tank.
Description[]
The T-40 was primarily intended to equip the Red Army's reconnaissance units. However, with the German invasion of Soviet Union in the summer of 1941, the Soviets favoured production of simpler tank designs in order to replenish the heavy tank losses, and so only a small number of T-40s were built before production was cut short. Nevertheless, the light tank led to some variants, including the simplified T-30 light tank and the BM-8-24 Katyusha rocket launcher carrier.
In BattleGroup42, the T-40 is armed with a DShK machine gun and a DT machine gun. It is also amphibious, allowing it to cross rivers easily without the use of bridges. It is both lightly armed and armoured, therefore players should use the light tank for reconnaissance and attacking enemy infantry only.
Examples can be found in scenarios set from the summer of 1941 and onwards, such as 4111-Rostov and 4206-Sapun Ridge.
