Turmstellung is a defence gun bunker.

Description[]

During World War II, the German army used various tank turrets on fixed fortified emplacements, called Turmstellung, as part of its defensive lines. These turrets usually came from obsolete or battle damaged tanks, and retained their complete armament, but some Panther turrets were also modified specifically for this role in either concrete foundation or steel support. The Panther turret emplacements were called "Panther Ostwallturm", and, despite the name, were mostly deployed along the Atlantic Wall, although some were also used in Italian front and in defence of Berlin. While some of the Pantherturms had turrets from serial Panther tanks, those with specialised turrets were modified to have a much thicker roof armour to withstand enemy artillery fire.

There are three types of tank turret bunkers in Battlegroup42: one of a Panther Ausf D turret, one of a Panzer IV with the 75mm KwK 37 L/24 gun, and one with a turret from Carro Armato P26/40. All turret bunkers can be entered while standing close to them.
