Type 1 Ho-Ki is a Japanese armoured personnel carrier.
Description[]
Although the Japanese army had been researching the concept of armoured personal carriers since the 1930s, such vehicles were still not in wide use by 1940, and troops had to rely on trucks or ride on top of tanks for transport. They revisited the concept in 1941, and two types were developed: the tracked Type 1 Ho-Ki and the half-tracked Type 1 Ho-Ha, but neither reached mass production until 1944.
The Ho-Ki in BattleGroup42 has space for a driver in the front and five passengers in the rear compartment. For self-defence, the second position has access to a Type 97 machine gun, which is mounted in the second position behind the driver to fend off enemy infantry. The driver can deploy a tripod mounted Nambu Type 92 machine gun on the ground for troops to use immediately, and raise or lower the vision slit at the front by pressing the down or up directional key respectively.
It appears in maps starting from mid-1942, such as 4203-Burma Road.
